To inform movie & animation entrepreneurs the potential distribution channels available for their perusal. This seminar would be suitable for movie entrepreneurs, animators and movie enthusiasts.

Speakers

Nia Daniata

She is a director, screenwriter, producer of many movies in Indonesia. Perlez described Dinata as Indonesia’s “most talented new filmmaker” in 2006. Two of the films she directed (Ca-bau-kan and Berbagi Suami) and one she produced (Biola Tak Berdawai) were submitted to the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. She achieved so many awards, such as 2004 Citra Award for Best Film for Arisan!, 2004 MTV Indonesia Movie Awards for “Best Director” for Arisan!, 2006 Hawaii International Film Festival for Best Feature Love for Share.

Wahyuni A. Hadi

Yuni is an art curator specializing in film & media projects. As the Director of Objectifs Centre for Photography & Film, Yuni co-founded the distribution label Objectifs Films. Yuni co-produced the film IloIlo (2013) which became the first Singapore film to win the Camera D’Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival and The Best Film award at the Golden Horse Awards. In 2013, she authored and edited the book Behind the Lens. She served as the Executive Director of the 25th Singapore International Film Festival (2014), to bring back the festival after a two-year hiatus. She also held the position of Festival Director and Festival Manager of the Singapore International Film Festival. Prior to this, she was the commissioning editor for Mediacorp’s Arts Central Channel and Program Manager at the non-profit art space The Substation. Independently, Yuni founded the Fly By Night Video Challenge with filmmaker Tan Pin Pin in 2003 which had a 10-year run. For these accomplishments, Yuni was named one of the “50 Most Inspiring Women” by Female Magazine in 2010 and was presented with the Great Women of Our Time Award (Arts & Media) in 2014 by Women’s Weekly. In 2015, she received the Honorary Award from the Singapore Short Film Awards for her contribution to the film community. She continues to promote Singapore cinema through curating projects and serving as jury.
